An African American Museum Exhibit

Dallas, get ready for an inspiring exhibit, Art for Life, an initiative of Russell Simmons in partnership with Bombay Sapphire that is designed to provide exposure for emerging artists around the country. For the artists participating, the theme is simply, "What inspires you?" opening the floodgates of artistic topics, mediums and features to the imagination of these new wave artists.

The official organization, Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation and Bombay Sapphire (R) kick-started the event in June and will carry it out until December. The launch party took place in Simmons' Hampton estates with many celebrity guests. The effort isn't just for glitz and glam, it's for a good cause! This search is a coveted competition whereby the shortlisted selectees and their art will be toured around the country with a final destination of being displayed in both the Art Basel Miami and the Rush Arts Gallery in New York.

One stop is right here in Dallas! The African American Museum of Art, located in the historic Fair Park district, will be featuring the selected pieces of art September 10 through November 6. This exhibition has been extended to Dallas as an exclusive city among only a few others, who are invited to participate in the juried event. In celebration of these new artists, the public is encourage to come out and see what inspires them to commit and devote their lives to creating such special pieces of art. It may even inspire you!

The museum is located at 3536 Grand Avenue just outside Fair Park. The new MLK/Victory Line (Green) conveniently picks up and drops off directly in front of the museum. Don't miss this grand event!
